A Thousand Blows, Disney+
This new crime drama, starring Line of Duty’s Stephen Graham and The Crown's Erin Doherty, was written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
It’s inspired by the true-life stories of a group of characters battling for survival in the brutal East End of London in the 1880s.
Hezekiah Moscow and Alec Munroe, best friends from Jamaica, find themselves thrust into the criminal underbelly of London’s thriving bare-knuckle boxing scene.
As Hezekiah finds fortune and fame through the art of pugilism, he attracts the attention of the infamous Queen of the Forty Elephants, Mary Carr, who sets about exploiting his talents to supplement her criminal enterprise.
Meanwhile the menacing and self-declared emperor of the East End boxing world, Sugar Goodson, seeks to destroy Hezekiah, whose ambitions to fight in the West End threaten everything he has built.
What ensues is a battle of the old world against the new.

National Geographic’s The Space Race, Disney+
I love the irony in the title, as the 'race' is about skin tone rather than the interplanetary battle between the USA and USSR back in the day.
Directors Diego Hurtado de Mendoza and Lisa Cortés profile the pioneering Black pilots, scientists and engineers who joined NASA to serve their country in space, even as their country failed to achieve equality for them back on Earth.
From 1963, when the assassination of JFK thwarted Captain Ed Dwight’s quest to reach the moon, to 2020, when the echoes of the civil unrest sparked by the killing of George Floyd reached the International Space Station, the story of African Americans at NASA is a tale of world events colliding with the aspirations of uncommon men.
The bright dreams of Afrofuturism become reality in THE SPACE RACE, turning science fiction into science fact and forever redefining what "the right stuff" looks like, giving us new heroes to celebrate and a fresh history to explore.

Lindisfarne’s Geordie Genius: The Alan Hull Story, 9.00pm, BBC Four
You don’t have to be a folkie to appreciate Alan Hull’s contribution to music as he was also handy at writing the odd tune.
In the hour-long film Sam Fender follows the career and personal life of Hull.
Archive footage of performances and interviews features in the programme, some of it previously unseen before this documentary was first broadcast in 2021.
There are also tributes from fans of the songs including Sting, Elvis Costello, Mark Knopfler, Dave Stewart and Peter Gabriel.

It’s Republic of Ireland v Turkiye (KO 7.30pm) in both teams' opening Group B2 match, held at Tallaght Stadium.
Both these teams go into the match with points to prove after narrowly missing on qualification for UEFA Euro 2025 by losing in the play-offs to Wales and Ukraine respectively.
A closely fought contest is anticipated in this first meeting between the nations, as they look to keep improving ahead of the 2027 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Also tonight there’s Live League of Ireland (7.30pm, Virgin Media Two), with St Patrick's Athletic v Galway United (KO 7.45pm) at Richmond Park.
Pat's enjoyed a strong finish last term, ending up in third place, while Galway also had an encouraging campaign, coming fifth in the table on their return to the top flight after a six-year absence.
Both sides drew last week’s opening games, Galway getting a good point away to newly promoted Cork City, while the Saints had a disappointing 0-0 draw at home with Drogheda United.
