Netflix offer sneak peeks at Bridgerton Season 4

Netflix and Shondaland have offered Bridgerton fans an exclusive sneak peek of Benedict and Sophie's passionate love story ahead what promises to be a steamy fourth season.

At an event in London, conversation was moderated by Queen Charlotte herself, Golda Rosheuvel, and included showrunner Jess Brownell and season leads Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), and Yerin Ha (Sophie Baek).

The panel unveiled never-before-seen photos of favourite characters, moments to expect, and a first look at the highly anticipated masquerade ball.

Polly Walker as Lady Featherington and Lorraine Ashbourne as Mrs Varley

The group revealed that the beloved masquerade ball from Julia Quinn's Offer from a Gentleman will be featured in episode 1 of Bridgerton Season 4.

Brownell recapped where the characters left off at the end of Season 3 and and a preview of what viewers can expect from this next season, including a glimpse of Lady Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) with Lord Marcus Anderson’s (Daniel Francis) blossoming flirtation.

There's also the newest Featherington baby from Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton). And it was confirmed that Simone Ashley will return for Bridgerton Season 4.

Michelle Mao as Rosamund Li, Katie Leung as Lady Araminta Gao, Isabella Wei as Posy Li

The event opened with a special Bridgerton Concert by Candlelight Performance including music from the show that fans know and love. Hugh Sachs, who plays the Queen’s right-hand man, Brimsley, served as the master of ceremonies and emcee of the festivities.

It was also revealed that this season, viewers will see more characters who "run the ton" as the season explores the upstairs and downstairs.

New photos were released of the newly constructed backlot at Shepperton Studios. The backlot showcases exquisite replicas of Georgian and Regency architecture including homes, buildings, Mayfair Street and more.

This milestone, 8 months in the making, promises to envelop the beloved show in an even more delightful and authentic atmosphere, transporting audiences to a world of Regency-era splendor.

The build spans approximately two acres of Netflix’s backlot at Shepperton, marking a new chapter in the series’ enchanting journey.

New photos were released of previously announced new characters in Sophie Baek's circle, including Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung), Rosamund Li (Michelle Mao), and Posy Li (Isabella Wei).

Showruinner Jess Brownell said of Lady Araminta's family: "I think in the books specifically, Araminta and Rosamund are quite villainous characters.

The 'downstairs' characters in Bridgerton

"They’re some of the biggest villains in the Bridgerton book, they are still villains absolutely in our show, but I think there’s a difference between meeting a character on the page versus seeing them embodied by an actor like Katie or Michelle.

"And so it was really important to us to humanise those characters, and understand why are they villains? Why are they making decisions that we might not agree with?

"Katie and Michelle bring such humanity and vulnerability to those roles.

"So while you might not agree with all of their choices, I think we will certainly understand them as people."

She went on to say that season four, which is titled Season Of Love, would have an "upstairs, downstairs" dynamic, with viewers seeing more of the characters who work for the rich families.

Brownell added: "I think the most exciting part of this is that we have these fantastic actors, who have had smaller roles over the years, and so we’re getting a chance to go downstairs, meet new characters, see new sets.

"And you really learn a lot about the upstairs characters from their downstairs characters.

"So this is in Bridgerton House, and is one of our fantastic sets, and you know, in Bridgerton House, even the downstairs is beautiful and kind of like a dream, I would 100% live downstairs."

Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton

In the room fans were able to see both Sophie and Benedict’s costumes on display (masks, gloves and all!) as well as photos from the scene where the lovers first meet.

To top it all off, attendees in person and virtually were sent off with a first look at scenes from Season 4 of Bridgerton, showcasing the beloved ball scene.

The upcoming fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson). Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down -- until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother's masquerade ball.
