Strike: The Ink Black Heart, 9.00pm, BBC One

The excellent crime thriller series based on the book by JK Rowling, starring Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger, returns.

Private detective Robin Ellacott is approached by a frantic woman, the co-creator of a popular cartoon, who says she is being persecuted by a mysterious online figure going by the name of Anomie.

Robin tells her the agency is too busy to take on her case - only to read a few weeks later that she has been murdered, prompting her and Strike to become drawn into the quest to uncover the true identity of the online tormentor.

New or Returning Shows

Gino & Fred: Emission Impossible, 9.00pm, UTV

This two-part series sees Gino D'Acampo (below) and Fred Sirieix go on an eco-friendly trip to explore the cuisine and culture of Austria and Croatia, start their journey in the Zillertal Alps.

Despite Austrian beef being some of the most sustainable in the world, one of the biggest factors of climate change is the production of meat and Gino and Fred go on a quest to find alternatives that ends in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

Regular host Carla O'Brien (below) returns to present the monthly round-up ofappeals for help from the public in solving crimes, featuring reconstructions, CCTV footage, news features and a panel of police advisers taking calls.

Leonardo da Vinci, 10.00pm, BBC Four

Documentary about the 15th-century polymath, exploring one of history's most curious and innovative minds though his paintings, drawings and writing.

The first of two parts takes a look at Leonardo's journey to becoming an artist and craftsman, while the bustling streets of Florence provide a rich backdrop.

Viewers are also taken to Milan, where Leonardo embarked on a monumental project - painting the iconic fresco of the Last Supper.

I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! 9.00pm, Virgin Media One

You might have missed this on UTV the other night.

Ant and Dec present a behind-the-scenes look at what happens when the 2024 winner, Danny Jones, and the other contestants leave the jungle to return to VIP paradise.

Featuring interviews with the stars' friends and family as they wait for their return and access all areas to the 2024 campers as they gather for a wrap party and reminisce on their time in the jungle.

Steptoe and Son, 7.55pm, BBC Four

Here's a classic Christmas special from 1974, featuring that superb double act of Dubliner Wilfrid Brambell and Harry H Corbett as the Shepherd’s Bush-based father and son rag-and-bone team.

Ever the optimist, Harold again plans to spend Christmas abroad but doesn't count on Albert's typical intransigence.

In predictable fashion, the old man takes umbrage at the thought of being left behind in Shepherd's Bush and insists on inviting himself along.

Sadly, this was also the show’s last ever episode.

That’s followed at 8.40pm by The Likely Lads Christmas special, also from 1974. Must have been a good year for BBC comedy, eh?

Bob and Thelma are determined to enjoy the Christmas festivities to the full, but Terry creates problems for Bob, starting things off on the wrong foot.

This edition explores how Irish people came to Brussels for a work placement, only to spend years in this international city.

Plus, examining what the city offered, such as its quality of life, affordable accommodation, multi-lingual education, a transport system that works and a social life that can rival anything in Ireland.

Renaissance - The Blood and the Beauty, 9.00pm, BBC Two

As Michelangelo sets to work on the Sistine Chapel, his rival Raphael starts his commission to transform the pope's private apartments just a few hundred metres away.

Fiercely competitive, each man is determined to outdo the other and win the favour of the pontiff.

Meanwhile, a violent religious schism engulfs Europe and makes Michelangelo question everything

The Three Faces of Eve, 11.50pm, BBC Two

This drama from 1957 doesn’t often get an airing. It’s a fascinating (and early) look at someone with a multi-personality disorder.

A psychiatrist is determined to find a cure for a woman with multiple-personality disorder.

The classy cast includes an Oscar-winning Joanne Woodward (above, with her husband, Paul Newman), with Lee J Cobb, David Wayne and Nancy Kulp.

Ending Today

Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide with Josie Gibson, 8.00pm, Channel 4

In the concluding episode, Josie is joined by celebrity guests, including Ollie Locke (below) and Jenny Eclair, and various experts.

They explore and review the latest festive buys across all price ranges and offer money and time-saving hacks.

With plenty of ideas to make Christmas the best and most memorable ever, whatever the budget, Josie has viewers covered.
