Due to Covid-19 and after being invited to attend Berkley School of Music on scholarship only to not attend for personal reasons, K.P. took a hiatus from releasing solo music.

During this period, he performed as the singing drummer of Ebben Phlo in 2022, wrote music and collaborated on releases with his Berlin-based cousin, Brian Ring.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I'm Irish. I live in Lisbon in Portugal for the most part. My cooking is arguably better than my music.

How would you describe your music?

I think it's honest and sincere. It's very personal to me. Usually when writing a song there has to be some sort of resolution of the lesson in it for me personally - some growth - otherwise I never finish it.

Who are your musical inspirations?

The list here is virtually endless. In terms of my inspiration for my new single Maybe and the upcoming EP, Before I Go, it was a lot of great songwriters like Nora Jones, John Martyn, and Paul Brady. Also, some newer stuff like Boy Genius. Tame Impala's early stuff. I mean, the list goes on . . .

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Good question. My memory has faded, my parents would have brought me as a baby. Maybe Christy Moore.

What was the first record you ever bought?

One of the earliest would have been Slipknot's Iowa. I had seen their videos in Kerrang. I was seven. I remember well because the posters depicting dead animal carcasses that came afterwards worried my parents.

What’s your favourite song right now?

I Want by Mk.gee.

Favourite lyric of all time?

It's hard to say of all time, but it's got to be something from a Dylan song. Maybe something from Subterranean Homesick Blues. I love how playful it is. Feels like a flow of consciousness. "Get sick, get well, Hang around the ink well, Ring bell, hard to tell, If anything is goin’ to sell, Try hard, get barred, Get back, write braille, Get jailed, jump bail, Join the army, if you fail."

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Anything with lyrics would drive me mad by year 10. Maybe something classical like Debussy's Clair De Lune.

Where can people find your music/more information?
