The Dry star Siobhán Cullen is among the cast of Babies, a new BBC series billed as "a warm and touching drama that explores the delicate tightrope of love and loss in a young couple's desire to become parents".
Cullen, whose other credits include Obituary and Bodkin, has been cast opposite Paapa Essiedu (The Outrun, Black Mirror), Jack Bannon (Pennyworth, Pulse), and Charlotte Riley (The Peripheral, Press) in the six-part series, which is currently filming "in and around London".
Announcing details of Babies, the BBC said: "Lisa (Cullen) and Stephen (Essiedu) are dealing with the painful struggle of pregnancy loss while life continues around them.
"However, despite facing dark times of grief and loneliness, they are finding their way through it with a burning sense of hope, humour, and love, realising the strength of their relationship, which will ultimately bring them closer than ever."
Babies is written and directed by BAFTA winner Stefan Golaszewski (Mum, Marriage).
"Paapa, Siobhán, Jack, and Charlotte are all incredible actors," Golaszewski said. "Their warmth, detail and deep humanity are essential to telling this crucial story that's never told."
