Si King has described writing the latest Hairy Bikers cookbooks as both "tough" and "cathartic" following the death of his longtime co-star and friend, Dave Myers.
Myers, who found fame alongside King as part of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo, died in February 2024 at the age of 66 after a cancer diagnosis. Their new cookbook, The Best Of The Hairy Bikers: Timeless Recipes That Everyone Loves, was published on 13 March.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, King reflected on the challenge of selecting recipes that best represented their years of cooking together.
"The hard bit was being representative of what I know Dave loved but also deciding what to leave out," he said. "We kept going back and forth with the publishers, saying, 'Can we have 250 recipes?' They were like, 'No, you can have 150. Actually, no, you can't even have 120.'"
He described the book as the final instalment in the Hairy Bikers' publishing run, saying food had provided comfort while dealing with grief. "It was a tough book to put together, but it was a lovely process, very cathartic," he added.
King also recalled the emotional first 'Dave Day' in June 2024, when thousands of bikers rode from London to Myers' hometown of Barrow-in-Furness in tribute.
The duo, who met in 1995, built a successful TV career, publishing dozens of cookbooks and fronting popular series including The Hairy Bikers' Food Tour of Britain and The Hairy Bikers: Mums Know Best.
