Mumford & Sons to play Malahide Castle this July

British folk-rock act Mumford & Sons will play Malahide Castle in Dublin on 4 July as part of their 19-date arena tour of Europe this summer.

The band, who release their new album, Rushmere, on 28 March, last played the venue in 2019.

Pre-sale tickets, priced from €86.05 to €101.05, for the Dublin show go on sale from Tuesday 18 March. Any remaining tickets will be available through a general on-sale from 10am local time on Thursday 20 March.

Rushmere will be the band's first album in seven years and will be released after banjoist and lead guitarist Winston Marshall, the son of Spectator magazine owner GB News co-owner Paul Marshall, quit the group in 2021.

The 37-year-old said his departure was a "difficult decision first brought about by an unintentional Twitter storm", after he faced backlash for tweeting about US writer Andy Ngo's book titled Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan To Destroy Democracy.

In a tweet, which he later deleted, Marshall said he had read the book and praised Ngo as a "brave man."

Beginning their career in 2007, Mumford & Sons are best known for tracks such as I Will Wait, Believe and Little Lion Man.

They have won two Grammy Awards and two Brit Awards, with their current line-up made up of singer Marcus Mumford, bassist Ted Dwane and multi-instrumentalist Ben Lovett.
