Irish swimmer Daniel Wiffen lays out his ambitions on The Late Late Show

Olympic gold and bronze medallist and world champion Daniel Wiffen laid out his ambitions on Friday night's Late Late Show, saying he wants to set three more world records within the next four years.

The last time the champion swimmer was on the Late Late he promised to come back with a gold Olympic medal, which he brought on the show along with his bronze, keeping them safe in his socks.

"I haven't seen these in a couple of months to be fair," he told host Patrick Kielty. "My parents keep them at home in the sock drawer.

"To be honest, I did the cliché thing of sleeping with the medals as soon as I won the race. Ever since I came back from Paris I've kept them in the drawer and am moving on for LA and focusing on that".

The Irish swimmer was clear about his aspirations for the coming years.

"I want to be a full-time world record holder and that's what my goals are now, going forward," he said.

"I hold one world record already. I want three more and I want them within the next four years, so that's what my goal is.

"On the build to LA we've got three and a half years, it's going to be defend that medal, make my bronze a gold and try and win another gold at least".

Wiffen also said his next race is in April where he hopes to break the world record.

"From 12 - 16 April we've got the Irish Championships, and that'll be my first big meet since the Olympics and I'm aiming to beat the world record there and that's only 5 weeks away."

On his plans for the Los Angeles Olympics, Wiffen said his twin brother Nathan is going to swim the 800m, he's hoping he comes first and that his brother is second.

"We'll both be on the podium...I'd like for us to be joint first but obviously I'm going to win and Nathan's going to come second," he added.
