The documentary A Want in Her has been announced as the winner of the Audience Award at the Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF).
Directed by Myrid Carten and co-written by Carten and David Barker, the Ireland/UK/Netherlands co-production tells the story of Carten's search for her missing mother in Ireland.
The film also won the Documentary Award at the festival.
"As is true of many of the most important things in life, I didn't know if this film would work," said A Want in Her director Carten after her documentary's festival success in Dublin.
"Many great people had to take a risk for this film to exist. So it is such a delight to have it connect so well with an audience.
"I'm grateful I sat in for the screening and could hear the laughter, feel the tension, and see some eye-drying when the lights came up. The experience has made me very excited for the Irish cinema release in the autumn."
Gráinne Humphreys, Festival Director, said: "It's been a hugely successful festival on many fronts - with sold-out screenings, industry events, and a delightful buzzy atmosphere in the cinemas and our other venues.
"The DIFF Audience Award is always highly competitive, and this year was no exception. The award has been won by a brilliantly made and incredibly moving film."
