Eggheads star Christopher Hughes has died, the show has announced.
Hughes, who was reportedly 77, was in the long-running series' original line-up after being crowned a champion quizzer on Mastermind, International Mastermind and Brain of Britain, and also appearing on The Weakest Link.
The show wrote on Instagram: "It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Eggheads great Chris Hughes.
"Chris joined the show at the very start in 2003 and over the next 20 years gave us not only brilliant answers but very many laughs and happy memories.
"He loved being an Egghead and will be hugely missed by all his Eggheads family."
The general knowledge challenge programme, which began on the BBC before moving to Channel 5, saw a team made up of members of the public try to beat the "eggheads".
If they were successful, they would take home a cash prize, and if not £1,000 would roll over to the next week.
The series was presented by news presenter Dermot Murnaghan, before Radio 2 DJ and Channel 5 talk show host Jeremy Vine took over the role.
