After being eliminated during Dancing with the Stars' Orchestra Night, Gearóid Farrelly has said taking part in the dancing competition has been "the greatest experience" and that he "never wanted it to end".
The comedian and podcaster became the fifth celebrity to be sent home from the competition after he and his pro partner Stephen Vincent competed in the dance-off alongside actor Danny O'Carroll and Salome Chachua, with the judges choosing to keep Danny in the competition.
Speaking to press following his elimination, Farrelly said: "I had the greatest experience, it's been the best four months of my life.
"I am learning to dance from one of the best dancers in the world, when would you get another chance? It's been phenomenal, I've loved every second of it.
"I've loved this experience so much I just never wanted it to end."
Pro dancer Stephen Vincent was full of praise for his celebrity partner.
"We had a really good time. I looked forward to going into rehearsals because of you, because you were such a genuinely nice person to be around, to spend time with and to help you through this process," he told Farrelly.
"The impact you've had on me is a big thing as well, so thank you."
Despite his disappointment at being sent home from the competition, Farrelly feels proud of what he achieved.
"I'm so proud. But I'm proud of different elements of it. I would consider myself quite shy, as a stand-up comedian I give it all on the stage, but for the other bits I'm quite shy," he said.
"There's a lot of areas of this world that I just think 'Oh good God' and to be honest Dancing with the Stars was one of those areas.
"I've said no twice, but I loved every second of it. I'm so glad I did it."
