Brothers Rome and Red charted separate paths before coming forming the duo in 2017, with Rome honing his skills playing saxophone in jazz bands and singing R&B, while Red DJed at college parties and shows.
Speaking about their new track, they say, "Separate is a really personal song for us, and we want that emotion to come through when you listen to it.
"Distance, heartache, longing - these are things almost all of us have experienced, and we hope people can relate to what we're saying with the song - and find their own story in it.
"We wrote the lyrics for this one first, and then let the production take shape around it, and we tried to create a sound that really allows our listeners to connect with those feelings."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
Red: I first started DJing on an iPod touch app in middle school, I ran track in college, I played drums in a garage rock band in high school
Rome: I speak French as a second language, I played basketball in college, I’ve been to over 350 concerts.
How would you describe your music?
Red: I'd describe it as the way city lights look at night from far away. An electronic constellation (I like it!!! – Ed).
