Éanna Hardwicke to be honoured at Oscar Wilde Awards in US

Cork actor Éanna Hardwicke is to be honoured at the US-Ireland Alliance's Oscar Wilde Awards in Los Angeles next month, it has been announced.

The annual Oscar Wilde Awards are held by the US-Ireland Alliance to celebrate the contribution Ireland makes to film, television, and music.

The ceremony takes place during the build-up to the Oscars and will be held this year on Thursday 27 February at the Ebell of Los Angeles.

On the night, Hardwicke will receive the Wilde Card Award, "which recognises rising talent".

His credits include the series Smother and Normal People, the miniseries The Sixth Commandment, for which he received a BAFTA nomination; and the films Lakelands and Vivarium.

Later this year, Hardwicke will be seen as Roy Keane opposite Steve Coogan as Mick McCarthy in Saipan.

Previous recipients of the Wilde Card Award include Eve Hewson, Dónall Ó Héalai, Jenn Murray, Sarah Bolger, and Saoirse Ronan.

The 2025 Oscar Wilde Awards will also see Irish American actor John C Reilly honoured.

Looking ahead to the ceremony, US-Ireland Alliance founder Trina Vargo said: "Everyone involved with our organisation, and the Oscar Wilde Awards, is saddened by the devastation resulting from the recent fires.

"We know how much the fires have disrupted the lives of many of our friends, the entertainment community, and the broader Los Angeles community.

"We briefly considered cancelling, but many told us that they were looking forward to this.

"We hope the event will provide a respite, for at least an evening."
