It's Movie Week on Dancing with the Stars

It's Movie Week on Dancing with the Stars this weekend, with the ten remaining celebrity couples set to perform routines inspired by some of the biggest movies of all time, with iconic heroes, villains and much-loved characters taking centre stage.

Olympic gold medal-winner Rhys McClenaghan and his partner Laura Nolan will be hoping to take us to dizzying heights this week as they open the show with a Charleston to the theme from Spider-Man.

Taekwondo star Jack Woolley and his pro dancer Alex Vladimirov will take on the roles of supervillains The Joker and Harley Quinn for a Tango to Lady Gaga’s version of The Joker from last year’s Joker: Folie à Deux.

Kin actress Yasmin Seky will channel her inner-Disney princess when she and her partner Simone Arena dance the first Contemporary Ballroom of the season to How Far I’ll Go from Moana.

There’ll be lots more on offer for little ones too, as social media star Kayleigh Trappe and her partner Ervinas Merfeldas take on a Quickstep to the title track from The Aristocats, while chef Kevin Dundon will be turning green when he and his partner Rebecca Scott dance to I’m a Believer by Smash Mouth from the classic Shrek.

Interpretations of beloved musicals will also be rolled out throughout the night. Comedian Gearóid Farrelly will transform into The Artful Dodger alongside his partner Stephen Vincent for an American Smooth to Consider Yourself from Oliver! and Ireland AM presenter Elaine Crowley and Denys Samson will take on an energetic Jive to You Can’t Stop the Beat from Hairspray.

Following in Paul Mescal’s footsteps, Mrs. Brown’s Boys actor Danny O’Carroll and his partner Salome Chachua will be hoping to deliver the drama with a Paso Doble to Now We Are Free from Gladiator.

Comedy classics will be well represented too, as former Miss Universe Ireland Aishah Akorede and Robert Rowiński will take on a Cha-cha-cha to Rescue Me by Fontella Bass from Sister Act. Meteorologist Joanna Donnelly and her partner Maciej Zieba will dance a Quickstep to Mrs. Robinson by Simon and Garfunkel from the 1960s classic The Graduate.

Finally, the Dancing with the Stars professional dancers will defy gravity with a special group number from the critically acclaimed musical Wicked.
