Rhys McClenaghan and his professional partner Laura Nolan have topped the Dancing with the Stars leaderboard with their powerful Tango, while Jack Woolley and Alex Vladimirov follow closely behind after a supremely confident Cha Cha Cha.
Meanwhile, Mrs Brown's Boys star Danny O'Carroll emerged as a dark horse in the competition when he and his partner Salome Chachua closed the show with an accomplished Charleston, earning a total of 36 points from the judges.
It was the highest score of the night and brought them to the third position on the leaderboard.
Sunday night's episode of the new series of the dancing show saw the competition heating up as all 11 celebrities took to the dancefloor for a second time around.
As well as Rhys, Jack and Danny, Joanna Donnelly, Elaine Crowley, Kevin Dundon, Yasmin Seky, Kayleigh Trappe, Mickey Joe Harte, Gearóid Farrelly and Aishah Akorede all put their hearts and souls into their dance routines, with varying outcomes and levels of enthusiasm from the judging panel.
With week two in the bag, the stars will now be looking ahead with apprehension as the first elimination is set to take place next Sunday.
Here's the story of the night.
Gearóid Farrelly and Stephen Vincent
The first couple to take to the dancefloor were Gearóid Farrelly and Stephen Vincent with an upbeat Cha Cha Chat to Disco Inferno by The Trammps.
"What a start to tonight's show!", Loraine enthused. "Beautifully balanced, well done. Brilliant."
Arthur said: "This is all heating up and you turned the dancefloor into a disco inferno, I loved it! Can we talk about your snake arms. You didn't come here to play - you came to slay!"
Brian said: "You already have developed a great relationship with each other, I can see you building confidence. Keep it going, even when you're on your own!"
Karen added: "You are worried about it clicking, well it definitely clicked tonight. You opened the show with a fantastic energy."
They scored a total of 28.
Mickey Joe Harte and Daniela Roze
Next up were Mickey Joe Harte and Daniela Roze who took on a fun and bouncy Jive to Mickey by Toni Basil.
It was a firmly tongue-in-cheek song choice but Mickey Joe looked like he enjoyed himself on the dancefloor.
However, the judges weren't convinced.
Arthur said: "You didn't blow my mind, I appreciate all the effort, but it landed a bit flat for me. The jive is very energetic, but I love your energy and enthusiasm."
Brian said: "For me, two weeks, two different performances, but the same issue - great energy but you need to tidy things up a bit."
Karen said: "Mickey Joe. I absolutely love that song and I love how you attack everything. You're giving 100%, but you need to be more on your feet."
Loraine concluded: "For me this is your song, but I am sorry to say this, I just don't think it's your night. It needs a lot more bounce. Go away, knuckle down and come back next week when it really matters and blow us away."
They scored a total of 14 points.
Kayleigh Trappe and Ervinas Merfeldas
The third couple to take the dancefloor were Kayleigh Trappe and Ervinas Merfeldas with a Viennese Waltz to Timeless by Meghan Trainor.
Looking elegant in a pink feathered ballgown, Kayleigh and Ervinas put on a smooth and accomplished performance.
Brian said: "I have to say, I think you needed a little bit more power to make the swings a bit bigger" and criticised her "agricultural heel".
He added more positively: "Apart from that the sentiment of the movement was beautiful. Not a bad night for you overall, well done."
Karen said: "I loved it. It looked as if you were at ease. For a Viennese Waltz that was a solid one."
Loraine said: "I thought the entry was beautiful and it set the whole scene, it truly was beautiful, absolutely stunning."
Arthur added: "It was northing short of magical. I love how you embraced with grace and elegance and transported us to a fairytale. The posture, the poise - so captivating."
They scored a total of 29 points.
Kevin Dundon and Rebecca Scott
Couple No 4 were Kevin Dundon and Rebecca Scott with an energetic Samba to Volare by Gipsy Kings.
The judges were unconvinced by his enthusiastic efforts.
Karen said: "The music is fast but you at times you were nearly going faster. Everyone loved it, didn't we! But if I'm honest, it doesn't quite get the chef's kiss of approval, it was a bit over-cooked. But Kevin, I'm obsessed with you."
When asked if she was obsessed too, Loraine said: "Not yet. You were flying tonight, flying around the room so fast - but it didn't have the Samba action that I would look for. But I love someone who has a go and you certainly had a go tonight."
Arthur said: "Kevin, we know the Samba is not the easiest dance, it felt like it a bit uncomfortable for you, but you never give up. You're like a beautiful crème brûlée, you crack open the top and there's still so much to come!"
Brian added: "The word iconic, it's a strange word. This was iconic, but not for the right reasons. One bit of good news, nobody is going home - tonight."
They scored a total of 13 points.
Yasmin Seky and Simone Arena
Next up were Kin actress Yasmin Seky and Simone Arena with a Foxtrot to Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish.
Yasmin's baby blue feathered gown gave princess vibes and the dance was suitably poised and elegant.
The judges were impressed overall, with a few notes.
Loraine said: "It's a beautiful dance and you danced it beautifully. The construction was done so well and your footwork was very good, you had smooth action all the way through. You needed to make it a little bit more powerful, but well done."
Arthur said: "The opening, you radiate beauty. Foxtrot - it's light as a feather, but it got a bit heavy in places. But you two are in perfect harmony together."
Brian concluded: "I totally agree with Loraine, Foxtrot is a very technically difficult dance and you gave us good control. But it's time to get out of second gear - I think that will make a big difference."
Karen added: "For me that was a very difficult routine, very technical, I loved it. I just want a little bit more oomph."
They scored a total of 26 points.
Rhys McClenaghan and Laura Nolan
Rhys McClenaghan and Laura Nolan took to the dancefloor next with a Tango to Tanguera by Sexteto Mayor.
Arthur said: "Rhys - Tango is a strong, attitude-filled dance and you started so impressively. But, at the end, I felt like I lost your energy when you were dragging Laura. Keep going because you have what it takes."
Brian said: "This week, I'm really impressed because you gave me something I wasn't sure we were going to get. Beautiful frame."
Karen said: "Did it impress me, eh yeah! I wasn't into the drag, but that's the only thing worth commenting on. You're doing well."
Loraine said: "You did it sublimely, the character, the drama and yet the stillness. For me, you gave it socks."
They scored a total of 32 points.
Joanna Donnelly and Maciej Zieba
Up next was meteorologist Joanna Donnelly and Maciej Zieba with an emotional Waltz to Moon River by Barbra Streisand, in tribute to her late mother.
Brian said: "Joanna I have huge respect for what you've just done - a classic slow Waltz. Your mum would be so happy with what you did this evening. You need to project more, but a fabulous moment."
Karen said: "Sometimes dance is the best way to express emotion and if I'm honest, I felt it from your first step to your last step. I think your mam would be super proud of you."
Loraine said: "Life is about making memories and you've created a most beautiful memory tonight. Well done."
Arthur added: "You came back this week with a vengeance. You showed everybody you absolutely have it. It was so inspiring. This is the proof that you put the hard work in, and it pays off."
They scored a total of 23 points.
Elaine Crowley and Denys Samson
The eighth couple to take to the dancefloor were Elaine Crowley and Denys Samson with a sultry, quick-footed Paso Doble to Standing in the Way of Control by The Gossip.
Karen said: "Elaine, talk about a difference from last week's Waltz. The hips needed to be more forward, but the usage of the skirt, I know that's difficult. I loved that, but I wanted more attack."
Loraine said: "I thought you were totally committed to Paso Doble, the character of it, the role play. But there needs to be balance, you need to get your weight on each foot, and that would give it a little bit more oomph. But well done."
Arthur said: "For me, the world devoured this dance. You had the power and intensity, the way you were working that skirt, oh my goodness. You were so in it, but I know you have even more in you!"
Brian concluded: "You're great at playing a character. Next week is the first elimination but it's time to start tidying things up, make the lines a bit neater. We'll see how you get on from there."
They scored a total of 23 points.
Jack Woolley and Alex Vladimirov
Jack Woolley and Alex Vladimirov were up next with a supremely confident Cha Cha Cha to Rush by Troye Sivan. The taekwondo star put in a powerful and smooth performance.
Loraine said: "It's stamina, it's speed, it's creativity. It's absolutely Cha Cha Cha. Your coordination from head to toe is outstanding."
Arthur said: "I felt the rush! The way you were moving was like a snake on the dancefloor. The way you embraced the flirtatious nature of Cha Cha Cha was exhilarating."
Brian said: "You have got the longest arms I've ever seen! You control that length beautifully, a bit of work still to do with the legs. Excellent, to give us that amount of body and control, it was exceptional."
Karen said: "I loved the choreography. Your body it's like play dough! I'm already excited for next week."
They scored a total of 32 points.
Aishah Akorede and Robert Rowinski
The penultimate couple of the evening were Aishah Akorede and Robert Rowinski with an accomplished Salsa to Deep Down by Alok, Ella Eyre & Kenny Dope feat. Never Dull.
Arthur said: "Who are you, seriously! The rhythm was mesmerising. A little bit wobbly, but you were enjoying it and overall it was a hot salsa."
Brian said: "This is a really interesting week as judges because we're getting to see you do more styles. The lifts here looked a little bit catchy but you've proved that you're a good all rounder."
Karen said: "Starting like that, can we have a moment for the back bend - that is so difficult. I loved it. My favourite part was when the two of you strutted towards the camera. Well done."
Loraine added: "The whole routine was really good, the balance of it all, and putting in the lifts - it was great."
They scored a total of 27 points.
Danny O'Carroll and Salome Chachu
Danny O'Carroll and Salome Chachua were the last couple to take to the dancefloor with a lightfooted Charleston to Don't Blame it On Me by Michael Bublé.
Did somebody say dark horse?!
The crowd were on their feet by the end of the expertly choreographed dance.
Brian said: "Credit where credit is due and I think you could be in for quite a lot of credit, that's for sure. I'm finding it hard to find negative things to comment on, maybe more self belief. If you can keep dancing like that you'll be cleaning up for a while."
Karen said: "I was so excited to see this because the Charleston is a challenging dance, you were there every single time Salome needed you. I'm lost for words because it was so good!"
Loraine said: "It's exactly what I call a fully loaded Charleston with high-octane energy. The fact you incorporated those props seamlessly is incredible."
Arthur added: "Salome has a lot of faith in you, and you can handle anything. Your speedy steps and your swivels. What a joy Danny boy."
They scored a total of 36 points.
This is how the leaderboard stands after week two.
