Speaking about Now You Know, he says: "Now You Know is about a specific moment in my life where a person who had consistently let me down throughout my life, actually showed up and was there for me."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
Hi, I'm Lex Bucha, a Dublin-based singer-songwriter who loves to craft lyrics that are as emotive as they are deeply personal. It’s hard to sum myself up in just three points because, at only 33, I feel like I’ve lived so many lives already. But here’s an attempt:
After finishing university, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I hadn’t taken a gap year, so I decided to take a leap of faith and move to China to teach English. What started as a job turned into an incredible journey, giving me the chance to explore the world and immerse myself in a completely different culture.
But if there’s one constant in my life, it’s music. Songwriting has been my therapy, my passion, and my favourite way to process life’s highs and lows. Whether I’m writing an electro-pop for myself or collaborating with other creatives, music is where I feel most at home. I’m grateful for every twist and turn my journey has taken - it’s all shaped who I am today and the stories I love to tell through my songs.
How would you describe your music?
My music is best described as sad boy pop colliding head-on with epic stadium bangers. It’s the kind of sound that feels like a late-night heart-to-heart, but big enough to shake the rafters. Imagine intimate, introspective lyrics that lay it all bare, wrapped in sweeping melodies.
Who are your musical inspirations?
My biggest musical influences are as eclectic and dynamic as the music I create. Growing up, I was surrounded by a lot of electronic music, which sparked a lifelong love for the genre. I’ve always been captivated by the Eurythmics and the unparalleled artistry of Annie Lennox - her powerful vocals and boundary-pushing style continue to inspire me to this day.

Last year, I had the incredible fortune of seeing Troye Sivan perform at the 3Arena, and it was nothing short of transformative. Stylistically, I can’t help but adore HURTS. Their electronic throwback sound, fused with an undeniable sense of high fashion, is something I deeply resonate with - it’s sleek, theatrical, and unapologetically bold.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
The first gig I ever attended was a free Steps concert during a summer trip to Blackpool - a memory that still brings a smile to my face. It was set on the beach, with the salty sea air mixing with the excitement of the crowd. I vividly remember dancing with my family to Tragedy, feeling like the world was a little brighter, a little more magical, under that warm summer sky.
But the first concert I ever paid to see was something altogether different: Lady Gaga’s first European tour. To say it was life-changing would be an understatement.
What was the first record you ever bought?
The first record I ever bought was Kylie Minogue’s Body Language, a moment that felt like stepping into a world of sleek, sophisticated pop. My favourite track from the album was Slow, a hypnotic masterpiece that still holds a special place in my heart today. There’s something about its understated sensuality and effortless cool that has stood the test of time for me.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Right now, my favourite song is Selfish by the incredibly talented Orla Monelle. Not only is Orla a personal friend, but she’s also an artist whose work I deeply admire. Selfish is an absolute gem - emotive, beautifully crafted, and criminally underrated. It’s one of those songs that lingers with you long after it ends, showcasing her ability to capture raw emotion with stunning vulnerability.
Favourite lyric of all time?
My favourite lyric of all time comes from Melanie C’s I Turn to You: "I turn to you like a flower leaning towards the sun." It’s such a simple, beautiful metaphor, yet it holds so much emotional weight.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
If I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life, it would undoubtedly be Born To Die by Lana Del Rey. It’s more than just a song - it’s an anthem, a cinematic masterpiece that captures beauty, melancholy, and defiance all at once. The sweeping strings, Lana’s haunting vocals, and those unforgettable lyrics create a world you can lose yourself in every time.
